In the heart of Houston’s vibrant art scene, nestled amongst timeless masterpieces, Kaylee and Jude celebrated their union in a way that was nothing short of a masterpiece itself. Their engagement, from the very first brushstroke of planning to the final, breathtaking reveal at The Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH), was a testament to love, art, and meticulous planning.

Kaylee and Jude’s choice of having a MFAH wedding was deeply personal and symbolic. This was the place where their love story began four years prior – amidst the backdrop of art and history. This couple didn’t just want a wedding; they envisioned an immersive, artful experience for themselves and their guests. A celebration that would resonate with the elegance and romance of their first date.

Planning

We met Kaylee and Jude as guests at another wedding we planned! They loved their experience that evening and pulled us aside to get our information. Ultimately, K&J hired Water to Wine Events for Full Service Planning + Design. We were entrusted with the task of sourcing each and every wedding professional, designing each intricate detail, and orchestrating every moment. Our journey with Kaylee and Jude started right at the onset – from selecting this iconic venue to shaping the entire wedding experience.

Our approach was to craft a day that would not only be a celebration of their love but also a tribute to the arts. We worked diligently to curate a team of vendors who would resonate with the couple’s aesthetic and vision

The invitation suite by Paper Tie Affair, with artwork from Degas, was a nod to Kaylee’s dance background, seamlessly blending with the theme and setting of their wedding. It was a beautiful amalgamation of personal and artistic elements.

Elizabeth Miller from The Petaler Floral and Events Co., with her precise and intentional approach, played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life. Her ability to source only the best blooms and craft them into stunning works of floral art was nothing short of extraordinary.

The nuances of planning a wedding at MFAH are extensive. When you’re celebrating around priceless artwork and have so many moving parts, there are many considerations and logistics that shouldn’t be taken on without a wedding planner! We highly recommend Full Planning + Design if you’re looking for a Museum of Fine Arts Houston wedding planner.

The Wedding

The ceremony was breathtaking. Kaylee’s walk down the aisle was like a scene from a movie – a long, dramatic path surrounded by priceless works of art, lace from her mother’s wedding dress wrapped around her bouquet, and her groom smiling ear to ear at the end. Jude also incorporated heirlooms into his look – his father’s cufflinks (originally a gift from his father) and his grandfather’s watch – both stored safely in a leather pouch handmade by Jude’s dad.

After the ceremony, Kaylee and Jude stole away from their guests to share an intimate private first dance, accompanied by a string trio, in an otherwise empty art gallery. It was a perfect way to take it all in, remember where they started, and live in the moment with just each other.

Kaylee and Jude joined their guests for dinner in another gallery. The dim lighting and  artworks around them created the perfect atmosphere for guests to mingle, making it more than just a meal but an experience in itself.

The celebration then moved to the atrium, where Kaylee, Jude, and their guests danced the night away. The energy was infectious, a true celebration of love and life.

Kaylee and Jude’s wedding at The Museum of Fine Arts Houston was more than an event; it was an artistic journey. It showcased how when a couple’s personal story is interwoven with the right elements, a carefully curated team, and impeccable planning, the result is significant and magical.

For those looking for a unique and memorable venue in Houston, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston stands as a testament to how impactful the backdrop of your wedding truly is.
