How Much Does a Wedding Cost in Houston in 2025?

Photo: Grayson Reese Photography
I don’t want to bog this post down with endless backstory before giving you the goods like a Pinterest recipe, so I’ll cut to the chase… How much does a Houston wedding cost? Somewhere in the range of $60,000-$120,000 for 120 guests.
Yes, that is a wide range, and it can go even wider. It’s difficult to nail down a true “average,” because… what are we basing this average on? The average spend across all weddings that take place in Houston? Or the average cost of expectations set by your peers, Pinterest and social media? Those are two very different things, and here’s why:
When you search “Average cost of a wedding in Houston,” you’re going to get a ton of answers, most of which will be misleading. Currently TheKnot says that on average, a 120 guest wedding costs about $32,000. Why is that a problem? When big wedding websites with the most SEO power put out statistics on the “average cost” of anything, they’re pulling from their users–many a time couples who are DIY-ing and on a strict budget (ergo, the need to scour their websites for planning advice vs. having a planner to consult.) That data isn’t useful for couples who are just trying to figure things out.
Personally, I like to set realistic expectations for the clients I serve, based on what I know they want.
Keep reading for a breakdown of wedding budget tiers and average vendor costs in Houston.
Every Houston Wedding Is Unique
Before diving into specific numbers, it’s important to understand that factors significantly impact your Houston wedding budget:
- Guest count (the biggest factor in your overall spend)
- Vision and design complexity (minimalist approach vs. elaborate installations)
- Time of year (peak wedding season vs. off-season pricing)
- Day of the week (Saturday vs. Friday or Sunday)
- Venue type and location (downtown Houston vs. suburbs, established venues vs. raw spaces)
- Level of vendor expertise (emerging talent vs. seasoned professionals)
Houston’s diverse venue landscape particularly affects pricing. A wedding at a community center will obviously cost less than a celebration at a luxury hotel or private estate. Similarly, venues with existing infrastructure (lighting, sound, catering facilities) will be significantly less expensive than tent weddings where you’re building everything from the ground up—tables, chairs, bathrooms, generators, flooring, and all.

Wedding Budget Tiers in Houston
Most wedding budgets can be broken up into tiers–with nuance–primarily based on the dollar amount spent per-guest. I’m going to break those down with a short description below, but let me preface this by saying two things:
- There is no budget shaming here. You spend what you can/want to spend without judgement, whether that be $15k or $150k- so long as you are realistic in your expectations and don’t degrade the value of the things you can’t afford, or the humans who create them.
- $1,000 per guest will get you far for a 100 person wedding. It will not get you much more than a photographer, bouquet, and dinner for a 10 person wedding. Like I said, nuance.
“Budget”: Up to $500 per guest
You’re very cost conscious. You’ll likely have a buffet style dinner and limited bar. You might need to DIY some elements of your wedding, either to save on labor and delivery fees or to create personalized details. Your centerpieces might be minimal, but you’ll have candles and some flowers strategically placed to stretch your dollar for maximum impact. Your photographer might be newer or offer a package with limited hours. You won’t have much wiggle room after your key vendors are booked. Budget weddings are the most hands-on and time consuming for a couple to plan.
“Lovely” or “Premium”: $500-$1,100 per guest
You’re hosting well, but things are not over the top. You’re having a full meal and mid-tier open bar, a mix of some basic and upgraded rental items, strategically placed but beautiful flowers with an upgraded focal point, a great DJ or a small band. You might have some room to play with personalized details or a specialty vendor. You could still be DIY’ing some things like paper goods or signage, but you are hiring full service vendors so your loved ones don’t have to work. These account for the majority of weddings being presented as “average” on Pinterest and on social media.
Note: Our Water to Wine Events clients typically fall within specific ranges in this tier, with Full Service clients dipping into Luxury:
- Wedding Management + Coordination clients: $450-$600 per guest
- Guided Planning + Design clients: $600-$750 per guest
- Full Service Planning + Design clients: $800-$1,300 per guest (upper-premium to entry-luxury)
You can learn more about our services here.
“Luxury”: $1,100-$2,000 per guest
You’re really going in on your guest’s experience and making sure the design and details are unique. You might have a larger or multiple bands, lounge vignettes and custom built decor pieces, unique and custom rentals, high-end flowers and installations, luxe paper goods, welcome bags, and experience-driven specialty vendors.
“Ultra Luxury”: $2,000++ per guest
Ultra luxury is for the couple who want to wow their guests with experience, style, immersion, and care. Weekend long celebrations with activities and activations, custom everything, immersive design, FULLY staffed services, 4,000sf tents with flowers everywhere and celebrity performances… all the things you could ever wish for.

How Much Do Houston Wedding Vendors Cost?
Understanding vendor pricing helps you allocate your Houston wedding budget effectively. Here’s what you can expect to invest in each category:
Houston Full Service Wedding Planner Cost
$7,500-$15,000++ or about 10% of your wedding day budget
Professional planning isn’t just about day-of coordination—we help you make strategic decisions from the beginning that save money and create better experiences. The investment varies based on the scope of services, your guest count, and the complexity of your celebration.
Houston Wedding Management (Coordination) Cost
$2,000-$4,000
You can find some planners or coordinators offering limited “coordination” services that begin 6-8 weeks before the wedding for closer to $1,800. Wedding Management offers more support throughout your engagement and ensures you can plan your own wedding, well. (More here on why “day-of” coordination doesn’t actually exist.)
Houston Wedding Venue Cost
$7,000-$15,000
Houston’s venue landscape offers incredible variety, from urban downtown spaces to historic ballrooms, museums, and suburban built-to-suit venues. Community centers and parks start much lower, while luxury hotels and private estates command premium pricing. Remember that venues with existing infrastructure (power, restrooms, catering facilities) will be more cost-effective than raw spaces requiring full buildouts.
Houston Wedding Photographer Cost
$6,000-$12,000+
Investment varies based on experience level, package inclusions, and hours of coverage. Please please please let me be the one to convince you—Don’t compromise here! Your photos are the primary way you’ll relive your wedding day for decades to come. Invest in the memories.
Houston Wedding Caterer Cost
$95-$300+ per guest
This category has enormous range based on service style (buffet vs. plated vs. family style), menu complexity, protein choices, number of courses, quality of ingredients and more.
Houston Wedding Bar Cost
$45-$120 per guest
This will depend on the style of alcoholic beverages you’re serving (beer & wine only, open bar, craft cocktails, etc.) as well as the quality of spirits. Bartenders themselves are typically in the $150-$200ea range. I suggest a minimum of two bartenders for up to 120 guests, with an additional bartender for every 50 guests above that number. If you’re having more than 140 guests, I suggest a secondary bar with two bartenders at each.
Houston Floral Designer Cost
This is another category with extremely wide ranges. For a 120 guest wedding with 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen, we’re seeing:
- Wedding Management clients: $5,000-$9,000
- Guided Planning clients: $6,000-$12,000
- Full Service clients: $12,000-$25,000++
Floral costs vary dramatically based on flower choices, season, design complexity, scale, and the number of spaces requiring arrangements. Flowers alone can easily cost
Houston Wedding Rentals Cost
This is too big of a range to really give an average for, because each wedding will require something different. Below are some ranges for what we typically see in Houston. These are before taxes, delivery, and service fees, which can easily add up to 30% of the subtotal.
- Linens: $22-$85 each
- Napkins: $2-$6 each
- Chairs: $8-$30 each
- Cutlery: $0.65-$3 / piece
- Chargers: $4-$15 each
- Glassware: $1.50-$8 each
- Specialty plates: $3-$9 each
- Lounge furniture & styling: $50-$500+ per item (sofas, accent chairs, rugs, pillows, bars, etc.)
The list could go on and on!
Houston Wedding Videographer Cost
$4,500-$7,000
Pricing depends on coverage hours, final video length, and package inclusions like drone footage or same-day highlights. Style and medium (digital vs. super8) can also affect the cost.
Houston Wedding DJ Cost
$2,500-$4,000
Investment varies based on hours of service, equipment provided (sound, lighting, photo booth), and experience level. A skilled DJ/MC can truly make or break your reception energy.
Houston Wedding Band Cost
$6,000-$20,000+
Live music pricing depends on band size (3-piece vs. 10-piece), performance hours, and whether they provide ceremony/cocktail music in addition to reception entertainment. Some bands might provide lighting and staging, whole others do not.
Houston Hair and Makeup Artist Cost
$500-$1,000 for wedding day and trial hair and makeup for one person
Additional services for bridal party members typically range $250-$300 per person for hair and makeup.
Wedding Invitations Cost
$1,000-$4,000+ for 100 suites
Investment depends on printing method, paper quality, design complexity, and whether you’re using templates or custom design.
Day-of Paper Goods and Signage Cost
$1,000-$6,000+
Includes programs, welcome signs, seating charts, bar menus, table numbers, and directional signage. Digital printing vs. letterpress or foiling significantly affects pricing. This could also include custom build backdrops and displays.
Houston Wedding Cake Cost
$1,000-$3,000 or a minimum of $6.50/slice
Pricing starts with basic buttercream designs and increases with decoration complexity, specialty flavors, and structural elements.

$600-$3,000 for guest transportation
Costs depend on guest count and shuttle duration. Specialty getaway vehicles range $500-$1,200.

$300-$800
Many officiants offer different service tiers including custom ceremony writing and pre-marital counseling.
Photo booth or other specialty entertainment
$1,500-$4,000
Other specialty entertainment might include a live cigar roller, painter, someone to sketch guest portraits, flash tattoos, or anything outside the wedding “basics”

Tips for Managing Your Houston Wedding Budget
Lower Your Guest Count
Since many costs are calculated per-guest, reducing your list by even 8 people (one standard 5′ round table) can save $1,200-$12,000 depending on your budget tier. If they aren’t someone you’ve spoken to in the last year, how much venue will their presence add to your wedding day? Gone are the days of obligatory invites.
Choose Your Venue Strategically
Venues with existing infrastructure cost less than spaces requiring full buildouts. Consider the total investment—not just rental fees, but what additional rentals and services will be required.
Prioritize What Matters Most
Identify your top 3 priorities and allocate more budget there while simplifying other elements. Love great food? Invest in premium catering and choose simpler centerpieces.
